Nike MAG (The Back to the Future II sneakers) - OFFICIAL
They are official. The Back to the Future II shoes (actually called Nike MAG) will go on sale STARTING TODAY. Nice Kicks has ALL of the details. From Nice Kicks:
1500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the 10-day auction, 150 of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be made available via eBay’s Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18.
This is kind of what I feared. They are running only in limited quantities… worse, you have to BID on them. So there goes any shot of me attempting to restrain myself.[EDIT: I re-read the article. It’s not totally clear if they are ONLY being sold on auction or if they will get a general release. The official Nike press release doesn’t use the word ‘only’ when it says ‘1500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay’. I can only keep my fingers crossed that these will be made available in stores for a normal civilized price.
Also worth noting they are calling them the “2011 NIKE MAG” implying that they are expecting to make a 2012 version… Just saying.]
On a brighter note. All of the proceeds are going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. So that’s awesome. That means whatever I spend on these shoes is a tax write-off, right?
